Service to Community Award for Television – Broadcast Ownership Group
Hearst Television launched a year-long initiative to investigate, chronicle and explore divisive issues across the country to help foster a greater understanding of what divides us, to move critical conversations forward and to shine a light on positive efforts bringing people together. Hearst Television enlisted all 26 stations, covering 39 states, to determine the content and initiatives most relevant to each local community. These efforts, supported by Hearst Television’s Washington, D.C., Bureau and National Investigative Unit, provided viewers with 1,559 stories, 51 specials and more than 100 hours of coverage that brought issues local communities face to the attention of the nation, helping bring all viewers together to help us realize the power of unity.
