Service to Community Award for Radio – Small Market
With many local businesses hurting because of the COVID-19 pandemic and regulations, the team at KLQL wanted to do something to help the local economy. In conjunction with the local chamber and newspaper, this local station launched the "Share the Luv" campaign. Listeners were invited to call in and purchase a gift certificate for local businesses. The team matched $25 for every $100 purchased to give local businesses an extra boost. Within three weeks, this station redistributed over $250,000 into the local economy and encouraged listeners to support the community. All of the money raised came from the people of their community for the people of their community.
